Deen Dayal Upadhyay Gorakhpur University is located at a distance of about 2 KM from the downtown to the east in Uttar Pradesh. It is a teaching and residential-cum-affiliating University. It actually started to work on September 1, 1957 with the faculties of Arts, Commerce, Law and Education. In 1958, the faculty of science was establsihed. Faculties of Engineering, Medicine and Agriculture were set up in later years.
