Jammu and Kashmir State Board of School Education is empowered to state the programmes of instruction and createsyllabus for them. It select textbooks for the for elementary, secondary and Higher secondary school exams. It grants diplomas or certificates to people who have passed its exams. It conducts inspections of recognized institutions and supervises and controls the recognized institutions.
The board conducts Higher Secondary – Part II Bi-Annual (Pvt), Matric Bi-Annual – Srinagar exams, Jammu – Annual Private Class 10th, Higher Secondary – Pt II Annual (Pvt) – Jammu Prov exams, Jammu – Annual Regular Class X exams, Higher Secondary Pt II Annual (Reg.) Jammu Prov exams, Higher Secondary Pt II Annual (Pvt.) Kashmir Prov exams, Srinagar – Annual Private Class 10th and Higher Secondary Part 2 Kashmir – Annual exams.
