Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is an all India examination administered and conducted jointly by the Indian Institute of Science and seven Indian Institutes of Technology on behalf of the National Coordination Board - GATE, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India.
GATE 2012 exam date is 29th Jan 2012 (online exam) and 12th Feb 2012 (offline exam).
Application fee is Rs. 1000 for General/OBC/ category and Rs. 500 for SC/ST/PD candidates. A candidate can apply for only ONE of the 21 papers.
GATE exam will be of 3 hours that contains 65 questions carrying 100 marks. The question paper will be of objective type. There will be negative marking for wrong answers, except for some questions.
For 1 mark questions, 1/3 mark will be cut for a wrong answer. For 2 marks questions, 2/3 mark will be cut for a wrong answer. There is no negative marking to the second question of the linked answer question pair.
